This past week I officially branched out beyond the blog. I’m hoping it takes off because I’m really enjoying it. I launched both custom braided biothane dog gear AND homemade dog treats. In addition to deciding this was something I wanted to do, I also expanded the website to include pages for both biothane and homemade treats. In doing so, realized I really enjoy that sort of creative outlet. Maybe I missed my calling? Maybe its an option for a second or third career later in life. Who knows but it was quite enjoyable.
I honestly love biothane. My favorite thing about it, is aesthetically, it’s super easy to match, but functionally it’s also easy to clean and holds up well. Each of the boys have 3 different biothane collars, a martingale, a blinged out fancy one, and a seresto collar cover, because lets be honest while they work GREAT they are UGLY. They also have each have 3 different biothane leashes – a 6 ft thin leash with ring on the handle, a 6ft leash with a traffic handle, and a long line. Chances are within the next few weeks, they’ll probably end up with even more gear. There are lots of people doing different things with biothane: HTV, crystals, and just straight simple biothane, so I opted to make braided biothane. I think it gives it a little something extra while still being simple, and I love simple fancy. I’ve gotten a few orders already and had so much fun making them. Honestly, I’m honored that people have requested Radical Canines biothane gear and can’t wait to share more of it!
I also decided to offer my homemade treats for sale. I tweaked the recipe a bit from what I posted previously and love it! I use the treats quite often for my own dogs in class and also for student’s dogs when they’re in my classes and most dogs LOVE them. I’ve had a few requests to buy larger bags so they can have them for class and home. Previously, it wasn’t really an option because the batches were so small BUT I’ve figured out how to not only produce in larger quantities but also decrease the overall time it takes to make each batch so we’re going to give it a shot. I’m starting with just my Salmon treats but have plans to add both beef and turkey treats in the near future. This weekend I packaged up a bunch of small sample bags that can go out for people to try and hopefully their dogs LOVE them as much as mine do and they’ll decide to order!
Who knows how this will ultimately work out, and it may turn into a giant flop but I am excited and definitely hope it takes off!
